Becoming life-long learners and creative problem solvers is only possible when children feel a sense of competence, power and independence. One of the ways this is achieved is by having a predictable daily routine where children know what to expect and what is expected of them at a particular time while still remaining flexible enough to take the children’s lead and run with their interests. So while we have a general plan for how our day is organized, it is more of a guideline than a rule. Infants of course are always on an individual schedule according to their own needs.
